Atelier Ryder is an international design studio providing architectural design, collaboration, and consulting in Urban Design + Master Planning, Architectural Design, and Construction Realization + Peer Review.  It brings an international perspective to real estate development including Strategic Planning, Entitlements, Architectural Design and Programming, Asset Management, Real Estate Development, P3 Partnerships, Design-Build Delivery, and Design Competitions.  Lead by Steven Ryder, with over 35 years of experience, a majority of his career, over 20 years, has been based in San Francisco with the firms of KMD, Heller Manus, and NBBJ.  He was a founding partner of DRDS (Davis Ryder Design Studio) located in Los Angeles and Managing Principal from 2008 - 2016.  

 

Mr. Ryder has spent most of his career providing design leadership to real estate developers, international clients seeking design excellence and innovation, corporate and academic campuses, and domestic and international builders.  He believes it takes 1) visionary and great clients to develop great projects, 2) a strong understanding and command of the process to optimize results and 3) experience and knowledge to lead decision making to achieve optimum results.  His award-winning results have been an acknowledgment of his success in leading added value results, most notably The Grove at Farmer’s Market in Los Angeles, NHN Headquarters in Seoul, Korea, and The J. David Gladstone Institutes at UCSF Mission Bay Campus in San Francisco, California. 

       

He has been a guest lecturer for both industry and several universities including San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, San Francisco International Trade Council, the University of California Walter A, Hass Business School, San Francisco Shanghai Sister City Business School at USF, ULI, and Seoul National University. Mr. Ryder’s design experience is broad and diverse including over 200 architectural projects with multiple awards and publications, including 7 AIA Awards, in the following primary markets: Planning and Urban Design, Large-scale Mixed Use, Corporate & Commercial Office, Hotel & Resort and High-rise Residential, Retail and Entertainment, Sports, Civic and Courts, Research & Technology, and Healthcare.
